On March 3, the air defenses of the Yemeni Armed Forces detected and shot down a US Army MQ-9 drone while it was conducting a hostile mission in the airspace of Al-Hudaydah Governorate.
This incident marks the 19th American MQ-9 drone to be shot down during the Yemeni war. Notably, 15 of these drones were destroyed during operations aimed at supporting the Yemeni people and the Palestinian resistance under the campaign known as the “Promised Conquest and Holy Jihad.”
The General Atomics MQ-9 Reaper is a heavy, multi-purpose drone used by the US Army, which has conducted hundreds of reconnaissance, surveillance, and offensive operations, including assassination missions in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Syria since 2001. The US Army has employed these drones to monitor the positions and movements of the Yemeni Army and to conduct attacks against them.
