Iranian Parliamentary Committee officially approved bill on suspending cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
According to this bill, any cooperation between Iran and the IAEA has been suspended, meaning that IAEA inspectors are no longer permitted to enter Iran.
This suspension will only be lifted if Iran’s Supreme National Security Council meets three conditions:
- Ensuring the security of nuclear facilities and nuclear scientists.
- Guaranteeing full respect for Iran’s rights as outlined in Article 4 of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, particularly regarding the country’s uranium enrichment.
- Westerners must not activate the snapback mechanism outlined in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
As a result of this action, while Iran has not formally withdrawn from the NPT, it has effectively gained many of the benefits associated with withdrawing from the treaty.
